well, my last travel report ended in Bariloche, Argentina. so i will start there again. i left on the 31st of May towards Chile. from Puerto Montt i took the boot to Chiloe. Chiloe is a little Island in the south of Chile. i belief that on this Island still everything is "ok". there is such a harmony. they grow almost everything on the island, so very organic and healthy!
when i arrived in Ancud, capitol of Chiloe, it was pouring. at the busterminal a lady wanted to sell her hostel so i went with her, as i didn't wanted to walk around looking for a hostel with that rain. good luck i went with her, because at the hostel i met Marcus from California. i belief we were the only tourists on the whole island. also at the hostel were 2 chilenos who were looking for land to buy. they payed there travel from Santiago to Chiloe bye selling clothes...well, i hope they made there way back home...
Marcus and i went around Ancud the next day. the weather was just perfect. in the afternoon we drove bye bus to Castro in the centre of the island. from there we made a excursion to isla Quinchao the next day. at the beach of Achao we lunched not far from some seelions. isn't that idyllic?!
at night we went out for dinner with a "amigo" of Marcus. he works for a bus-company. i had the luck that the next day he drove form Castro to Osorno, so i could travel for free! isn't it nice to have all over "amigos"?!
from Osorno the travel went on to Pucon. as i arrived there it was pouring again! and the travel report for the whole week looked the same. Actually i wanted to climb the Vulcano Villarrica, but with that weather... so i decided to go on to the north.
Over Santiago de Chile i came to Valparaiso, which is a city for it's own. all the coloured houses made out of corrugated iron, located on hills. 15 "Ascensores" (rack railway) bring you from one level to the other. from viewpoints you can look over the whole city and the port. the famous poet Pablo Neruda had a big influence on the architecture and the colours of the city.
unfortunately it was raining again for days and as there were not many tourists in the hostel it was a bit boring. at the 2nd day i got to chat to a chileno which were also at the hostel and two french-canadiens arrived also. there was some more life at the hostel. with the chileno i walked around the city and as he is a student of architecture he could give me some interesting informations. on friday finally the weather changed and i could warm up.
