Cuzco - Machu Pichu

until now i had luck with stomach problems. but also me had to catch it once. i stayed in bed for a couple of days what didn't make me really happy. i actually wanted to go with Carlo and his friends on a hike to the inkaruins of "Choquequirau". but so i had to put mi off with Machu Picchu. of course that also was fantastic! with the bus and train i got to Aguas Caliente. there i met to guys which i met on Isla del Sol. with them i climed the mountain Putucusi. on of my highlights on my trip! the tour started pretty easy. then we came to the ladders, stacked into the wall that go up for 20 meters in almost a 90 degree inclination. wouw! nothing for people with acrophobia! but absolutly fun for me! after just one hour and 600 meters of hights difference we reached the top. from there you have a unique view of the Inca citadel. The trail dates from the time of the Incas, it was a special place for meditation, ceremonies, control and it was used to observe the construction of Machupicchu. after our returne to Aguas Caliente we went to the hotsprings and enjoyed a cold beer.

the next day i went early up to Machu Picchu to see for once the sun rise. after a very interesting tour i went back to Aguas Caliente and took the bus and train back to Cuzco. i met Melissa and co. and we had some nice days with party and watching the worldcup incl. the final.

Puno - Islas Flotantes

10.07.06 i went with Carlo with the train to Puno. very nice trainride and something differend to all the hours in the bus. after a cold night we went the next day to the "Islas Flotantes". the islands as the name says are floating on the lake. houses, boots and even the base is made out of straw. in the afternoon we took the bus to Arequipa.

Arequipa (the white city) - Colca Canon

one of the loveliest cities of Peru. it's also a world heritage site. we booked a tour to the valley of the condores. and i went to the hairdresser, well my hair was afterwards 15cm shorter, allthough i only wanted to short about 5cm! well, it will grow again.

the next morning we went by minibus to Chivay (village of Love). on the way we saw lamas and vulcanos. after a hot bath in the hotsprings we went for dinner with a traditional show. our guide wanted to go out to a disco. but after we had to "enjoy" our drinks with a cap and gloves, went back to the hotel pretty fast.

early in the morning we went on the way to the condor cross. we had luck and could observe lots of condores. amazing, particularly when they fly by just 1 meter above your head.

Huacachina

over night we took the bus to Huacachina, close to Ica. after a relaxing day in the hammocks we enjoyed a BBQ at the hostel. on sunday we went sandboarding! with a san-buggy we drove through the dunes, like a roller coaster. then we catched our boards and of we went... it's not that easy, but very funny!

Lima

from Ica we went on to Lima. where those Lima starts and where is it ending? a giant city! we found a nice hostel at the waterfront in Miraflores. but there was no swimming, to cold and to dirty. we said goodbye to 2 swidish friends (treking-friends of Carlos) and enjoyed the citylife.

Mancora

after i said goodbye to Carlo i went bye nightbus to Mancora. as soon it got dark in the bus, i got busy with cockroaches. i looked around for an other seat and had finally some rest.

finally i got to the ocean! nice water temperature, sun and beach! just splendid. unfortunately i had a bit to much sun the first day, doesn't happen a lot with me ;-))
